Delhi’s historic Red Fort and Jama Masjid on Thursday morning received a bomb threat alert, that prompted a swift response from security agencies. The Delhi Fire Service confirmed that an immediate investigation was launched at both locations following the alert, PTI reported. After thorough checks, authorities determined the threat to be a hoax.

An official stated that a phone call was received at 9:03 AM, claiming that bombs had been planted within the premises of these two monuments. Security teams promptly arrived at the locations.

"We dispatched a fire tender to the site and conducted a thorough search of both places. However, no suspicious object was found during the investigation," he said.

This incident occurred at a time when security arrangements in Delhi were already heightened. Both the Red Fort and Jama Masjid are major historical and cultural landmarks that attract large numbers of tourists and devotees daily. Following the threat, police and other security agencies have increased surveillance in the area.

The official also mentioned that an investigation has been initiated to identify those responsible for spreading such rumours. It is still unclear where the call originated from and who made it, but it is being considered a mischievous act. Delhi Police has appealed to the public not to pay heed to rumours and to maintain peace.

In recent times, several false bomb threats have been reported across various parts of the country, targeting schools, hospitals and government offices. Currently, the situation at both sites is normal and there is no threat to visitors.
