Indian Navy Spying Case: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) charge-sheeted one more accused in the Indian Navy spying case which involved Pakistan operatives and at least three Indian Nationals. The accused, Amaan Salim Shaikh, has been charged with conspiring to honey trap the Indian Navy personnel and exploit secrets of Indian Naval establishments at the behest of Pakistani intelligence operatives. The anti-terror agency, which filed a supplementary chargesheet today in NIA Special Court, Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, has charged Amaan, a resident of Mumbai (Maharashtra), under various sections of IPC and UA(P) Act, the agency stated in a press release.
The NIA took over the case on June 5, 2023, and discovered that Amaan was working with a suspected Pakistani agent, Usman, to further an anti-India conspiracy. The accused received money from his Pakistani handlers through unregulated channels such as crypto. According to the release by NIA, he was being paid by Meer Balaj Khan, Alven and certain other Pakistani operatives for completing the tasks which were assigned to him.

"He was also receiving money from other suspected Pakistani operatives, including Meer Balaj Khan, Alven and certain other individuals, through crypto channels for completing tasks assigned by the Pakistani intelligence operatives," the release further stated.
The premier investigation agency has earlier charge sheeted two accused persons in the case. Further investigations are taking place in the case which was initially registered at PS Counter Intelligence Cell, Vijayawada Andhra Pradesh, it said.
Last year the agency filed a charge sheet against Akash Solanki (21) of Uttar Pradesh and the absconding Pakistani operative Meer Balaj Khan under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in the NIA Special Court in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.
Solanki, an Electrical Artificer Radio Apprentice (EAC) at the Naval dockyard in Vishakhapatnam, was passing on classified information about Indian Navy warships and submarines to Pakistani handlers, a spokesperson of the central agency had said.
