Bengaluru-Chennai National Highway Traffic: The Hosur flyover, part of the Bengaluru-Chennai National Highway corridor, has been shut after officials detected a lateral shift—a dangerous sideways movement in the road’s structure. The closure, announced on Saturday, led to major traffic congestion, with jams stretching up to 3 kilometres near the Hosur Bus Stand.

Hosur Flyover Closed

The flyover, located near the Hosur Bus Stand, reportedly shifted laterally by nearly half a foot, with a visible crack in its central section. Upon noticing the damage, officials from the National Highways Authority quickly arrived on-site, conducted an inspection, and immediately ordered the closure of the affected stretch. Vehicular movement on the elevated road has been completely suspended until further notice.

Vehicles travelling from Chennai and Salem towards Bengaluru via Krishnagiri are now being diverted to the service road that runs alongside the highway. This flyover is a critical link for traffic moving between the two metro cities and also connects Silk Board Junction to Electronics City, Bengaluru’s major IT hub.

The flyover, inaugurated in 2010, typically carries around 50,000 vehicles each day. A detailed technical inspection is scheduled for Sunday to assess the extent of the damage and plan repair work. Authorities have urged motorists to follow diversion routes and expect continued delays until normal operations resume.
