New Delhi | Jagran News Desk: In an emergency hearing after the police shot down the four accused involved in rape and murder of 27-year-old veterinarian from Hyderabad on Friday, the Telangana High Court ordered the police to preserve the bodies of the deceased till Monday, 8 pm.  

The police on Friday after the encounter said that the accused aged between 20 and 26, had attacked the team of policemen and snatched their weapons when they were brought to the spot where they had committed the unholy crime to recreate the crime. The police further said that the accused were killed in retaliatory firing.

A two-judge bench of Telangana High Court has also ordered that the autopsies of the accused will be video-recorded and the recording will be submitted to the registrar by Saturday evening.

"The Principal District Judge, Mahaboobnagar, is directed to receive the same and hand it over to the Registrar General of the High Court of Telangana by tomorrow (Saturday) evening," reads the order. The two-judge bench will hear the matter on Monday at 10:30 am.

Addressing the media on the encounter of four accused in the Hyderabad veterinarian's rape-murder case by the Hyderabad Police, Cyberabad police chief VC Sajjanar on Friday said that "law has done its duty".

 

Sajjanar said that the personnel resorted to "retaliatory" firing after two of the accused in the rape and murder of a woman veterinarian opened fire at police after snatching weapons from them.

He said that that one of the accused, Mohammed Arif, was the first to open fire, even as the police team that took them to the crime scene were attacked with stones and sticks. The snatched weapons were in "unlocked" position, he added. Sajjanar said that the accused had confessed to their crime after interrogation on December 4 and 5.

The four accused identified as Mohammad (26), Jollu Shiva (20), Jollu Naveen (20) and Chintakunta Chennakeshavulu, were arrested by the Telangana Police on November 29. All the accused worked as lorry drivers. The four were under judicial custody and lodged in high-security cells in Cherlapally Central Prison where police tightened security by deploying additional personnel.

The accused abducted, gang-raped and murdered the 26-year-old veterinarian doctor, who was on her way home after a work-related visit to Gachibowli in Hyderabad. The accused after committing the crime set ablaze her body and dumped it under a culvert in Shadnagar.
