Hyderabad | Jagran News Desk: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has ordered setting up of a fast track court for expeditious trial in the rape and murder of the woman veterinarian and has assured all necessary help to her family, said the Chief Minister's Office in a statement on Sunday.
In a statement issued three days after the incident, the Chief Minister expressed his anguish over the incident and directed the authorities to initiate the process for setting up a fast track court and ensure that the culprits get tough punishment.
"Chief Minister has instructed officials that the accused of the woman veterinary doctor's ghastly murder should be inquired on a fast track and culprits should be given stringent punishment. Chief Minister also decided to set up a fast track court to deal with the case," news agency ANI quoted the CMO as saying.
Meanwhile, his and Telangana IT Minister KT Rama Rao has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to amend IPC and CrPC so as to provide for capital punishment to perpetrators of crimes against women and children.
"Honourable PM Modi Ji, 7 years after Nirbhaya’s ghastly rape & murder; the convicts are still not hung! A 9-month child is raped recently, lower court ordered capital punishment; HC revised it to life imprisonment! A young veterinarian is barbarically murdered in Hyderabad," he said in a tweet.
"Amend the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Code of Criminal Procedure (CRPC) so anyone who commits such a heinous act of violence on our women and children are given capital punishment without delay and NO option for review Time has come to amend archaic portions of our Acts and Laws," he said in another tweet.
"Let us act swiftly to save our nation from these beasts who seem not to fear law of the land PM Modi Ji, I appeal to you on behalf of millions of citizens who’re aggrieved yet feel helpless and want us lawmakers to raise up to the occasion and deliver expeditious justice," he added.
The 26-year-old was brutally raped and murdered by four men on Thursday. The police have arrested all of them and have been sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
It has also suspended three of its personnel for alleged delay in registering an FIR in the case. "Sub-inspector M Ravi Kumar and head constables P Venu Gopal Reddy and A Sathyanarayana Goud were placed under suspension till further orders based on the findings of a detailed enquiry," Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar, quoted by ANI, said.
