Hyderabad | Jagran News Desk: The Telangana police has decied to seek custory of the accused involved in the rape and murder of the 26-year-old women veterinarian to investigate the case further.

“As part of further investigation, we are thinking of filing a custody petition shortly,” news agency PTI quoted a senior police official as saying.

“It (custodial interrogation) may be done in the jail itself,” the official added.

On the other hand, the residents of the colony, where the veterinarian stayed, on Sunday turned away political leaders who wanted to call on her family. Holding placards that read ‘No Media, No Police, No Outsiders, - No sympathy, only action, justice’, the residents locked the main gate of the colony at Shamshabad on the outskirts of Hyderabad.

Meanwhile, the family of two of the accused said that the authorities should hand out appropriate punishment to them.

“You give whatever punishment (to them). I have a daughter too,” said the mother of one of the accued claiming that her son has not been taking up any work in view of health issues he has been suffering from since the last six months.

“You do anything. God only knows,” said the mother of another accused adding that they were unable to face people after their son’s arrest.

The police has also suspended three of its officials for alleged delay in registering an FIR in the rape and murder of the woman veterinary doctor. It also appealed the media not to continuously telecast the issue of gruesome murder of the woman.

“Sub-inspector M Ravi Kumar and head constables P Venu Gopal Reddy and A Sathyanarayana Goud were placed under suspension till further orders based on the findings of a detailed enquiry,” news agency ANI quoted Cyberabad Police Commissioner VC Sajjanar as saying.

Meanwhile, the Ranga Reddy Bar Association have decided not to appear for the four accused in the case.

Huge protests in the state have erupted after the rape and murder of the 26-year-old veterinarian last week and the protestors are demanding that the accused be handed out a stringent punishment like death penalty.
