A significant movement of people was observed at the Wagah-Attari border as the deadline for Pakistani nationals visiting India under the SAARC visa scheme expired today. In the past three days, 537 Pakistani nationals have departed from India, while 850 Indian nationals have returned home.

This development is part of a broader series of actions by India to scale back its ties with Pakistan, following a deadly attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam that claimed the lives of 26 people, mostly tourists.

Among those affected, Sarada Bai, a Pakistani citizen who has lived in India for over 35 years, has been ordered by Odisha police to leave the country immediately. Authorities confirmed that her visa has been canceled and she has been instructed to return to Pakistan. The police warned that legal action would be taken if she does not comply with the order.

Sarad Bai, married years ago into a Hindu family, resides in India with her Indian husband. The couple has two children, both of whom are Indian citizens. Despite holding all essential documents, including a voter ID, Sarad Bai has never been granted Indian citizenship. She has expressed that she has no family or connections left in Pakistan, pleading with the authorities to consider her situation and grant her the mercy of staying in India for the sake of her family.

"I was first in Koraput then came to Bolangir. I have no one in Pakistan... Even my passport is too old. I ask the government and you all with folded hands, please allow me to live here. I have two grown children, grand children... I wish to live here as an Indian," NDTV quoted her as saying.
