IIT Dhanbad Diwali Video: A video of IIT Dhanbad students celebrating Diwali has gone viral where they could be seen doing a risky stunt with firecracker. The students lit a firecracker and placed a plastic drum over it. They were then seen sprinting away from the firecracker covered with the dustbin. While the video received mixed reactions across the social media platforms, it was viewed by 112 million users and liked by over 6 million.
The explosion sent the drum flying as high as the four-story boys hostel building. There were no casualties and the students could be seen laughing and clapping after the explosion. The video immediately caught the attention of the netizens as soon as it was uploaded. While few applauded the students for their creativity, others criticised them for being irresponsible and urged the college administration to take action against them. A few other users reminded the students that the festival of lights was to celebrate with harmony and not to create the chaos.

The Instagram account @cis_tales captioned it, "Rocket boys from Aye Aye Tee Dhanbad," eliciting a flood of reactions. One user humorously replied, "99 missed calls from ISRO," and another replied, "Just hostel boys things." While one referred to IIT Dhanbad as "Indian Institute of Astronomy," another user wrote, "This is the reason women live longer than men.".
Earlier, a 15-year-old boy from Bihar's Nalanda lost his life while performing stunts with the fireworks. The boy had covered a firecracker with a clay pot as a prank to show off to his friends. As the firecracker exploded, a piece of the clay pot hit the throat of the deceased, causing a major injury. The villagers said that the injured boy was rushed to the Sadar hospital, where the doctors declared him dead. The incident caused grief in the village, dimming the festive spirit.
