Weather Forecast:  As the Southwest Monsoon moved towards some more areas of the central Arabian Sea, south Maharashtra, Telangana, and portions of south Chhattisgarh and south Odisha, as well as additional regions of Coastal Andhra Pradesh, the India Meteorological Department on Saturday, forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall over Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan, Goa and North interior Karnataka.

The weather agency said that in the coming days, the Southwest Monsoon will cover the rest of the central Arabian Sea, and some more parts of Maharashtra including Mumbai and Telangana during the next 2-3 days.

The weather body has predicted heavy rainfall for these areas in upcoming days: At isolated places over West Madhya Pradesh, Sub- Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Marathwada, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Telangana and South Interior Karnataka.

Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, hail & squall (speed reaching 50-60 kmph) very likely at isolated places over Madhya Pradesh; with lightning & squall (speed reaching 50-60 kmph) at isolated places over Madhya Maharashtra; with lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 40-50 kmph) at isolated places over Vidarbha, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram & Tripura, Konkan & Goa, Marathwada, North Interior Karnataka; with lightning & gusty winds (speed reaching 30-40 kmph) at isolated places over Chhattisgarh, West Bengal & Sikkim, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana, South Interior Karnataka; with lightning at isolated places over Jammu-Kashmir-Ladakh-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Assam & Meghalaya, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Kerala & Mahe, Coastal Karnataka.

Heatwave, humidity alert from June 8 to June 11

The IMD also predicted heatwave conditions for some parts of north and northwest India. Pockets of Uttar Pradesh, Eastern Madhya Pradesh, Gangetic West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand will experience severe heat waves for the next four days. Meanwhile, Odisha is expected to experience high humidity in the weather for the next few days, IMD said.
