IMD Weather Update: North India is experiencing a sharp, significant drop in temperatures, signalling the rapid onset of winter. The shift in weather comes as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued snowfall alerts for the hill states such as Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu and Kashmir.
Meanwhile, a deep depression over the Strai of Malacca is expected to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm on November 26. The cyclonic storm, which will be named ‘Cyclone Senyar’, is expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to several south Indian states, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

In its latest bulletin, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that a deep depression over the Strait of Malacca is rapidly moving west-northwest and is expected to intensify into a cyclonic storm (likely to be named 'Senyar') by the forenoon of November 26.

The system is expected to generate gusty winds ranging from 60 km/h to 100 km/h throughout the day.
The weather department has issued a forecast for an extended period of adverse weather, predicting heavy rainfall, strong winds, and potential flooding across India’s southern and coastal states. The system is expected to hit Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Odisha, and coastal areas of West Bengal, with chances of heavy rainfall between November 25 and December 1.
Cold Wave To Hit Haryana, Bihar; Snowfall In J-K, Himachal
The Meteorological Department has forecast a possibility of cold wave conditions and snowfall in Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir. The influence of this weather system will be widely felt across Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh, where minimum temperatures are expected to plunge sharply.
Fog To Prevail In Delhi
Residents can expect a cold start to the day with light to moderate fog settling over the capital this morning. However, the skies will clear quickly, offering a clear and sunny day. While the maximum temperature is expected to hover between 23 and 24 degrees Celsius, the minimum temperature is likely to drop sharply to a low of 10 degrees Celsius.
