India on Monday expressed its deep trouble about the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, which has been scaling up for the past five months. Speaking at the UNSC, Permanent Representative of India to the UN, Ruchira Kamboj, said the humanitarian crisis had deepened in Gaza, which had led to a large-scale loss of civilian lives, especially women and children.
"As far as India is concerned, we have been deeply troubled by the conflict in Gaza that has been raging for nearly five months now. The humanitarian crisis has deepened...the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas has led to a large-scale loss of civilian lives, especially women and children...This is simply unacceptable. We have strongly condemned the deaths of civilians in the conflict,” Kamboj said.
Besides, India condemned terrorism in any form and sought the immediate release of the hostages to avoid further escalation of the conflict. “India has a long-standing and uncompromising position against terrorism in all its forms and manifestations. We demand the immediate and unconditional release of all hostages... humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza must be scaled up immediately to avert a further deterioration in the situation,” she said.
