India Unveils 'New Delhi Frontier Commitments' At AI Summit; What Are The Two Key Pledges

Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Thursday unveiled the “New Delhi Frontier AI Impact Commitments” at the AI Summit 2026 in Delhi, outlining a voluntary framework endorsed by leading global frontier AI firms and Indian innovators to advance inclusive and responsible artificial intelligence development.

Calling it a key outcome of the India AI Impact Summit 2026, Vaishnaw said the commitments represent a collective pledge by top global and domestic AI companies to ensure that technological innovation is aligned with equity, accountability and meaningful real-world impact, especially reflecting the priorities of the Global South.

Two Key Commitments Under the Framework

1. Promoting Evidence-Based AI Insights While Protecting Privacy

The first pillar focuses on expanding real-world AI applications through the publication of anonymised and aggregated usage data. Participating organisations will share statistical insights, either independently or via global partnerships, derived from structured and taxonomised data sets. According to Ashwini Vaishnaw, this initiative aims to support data-driven policymaking in areas such as employment, skilling and workforce planning, while ensuring strict safeguards for user privacy. The approach will enable governments and institutions to track job trends and emerging skill demands without exposing individual-level information.

2. Strengthening Multilingual and Cultural Evaluation of AI Systems

The second pillar emphasises improving AI performance across languages and diverse cultural settings. Organisations signing on to the commitment will assess AI systems using flexible tools and benchmarks, while working closely with local ecosystems to design evaluation frameworks for under-represented languages. Vaishnaw highlighted that this step is particularly vital for the Global South, ensuring that AI technologies function effectively and deliver high-quality outcomes across varied linguistic and cultural communities.

The India AI Impact Summit, being held from February 16 to 20 at Bharat Mandapam, seeks to harness artificial intelligence to tackle global challenges and drive inclusive growth. The five-day summit is built around three core pillars, People, Planet and Progress, themes that have remained central since its inauguration earlier this week.
