Indian MP Pay Hike:  Starting April 1, 2025, Indian MPs will receive a 24% pay hike. Along with benefits and allowances, the Central Government has confirmed in a notification that the new monthly wage will be Rs 1.24 lakh. The Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs said the change is a reaction to growing inflation.

Additionally, current Members of Parliament will get higher pensions and daily allowances, while past Members of Parliament will receive more pensions for each year of service beyond five years.

MPs used to get a monthly salary of Rs 1 lakh, daily allowances of Rs 2,000, and a pension of Rs 25,000 for retired MPs. The updated amounts are Rs 31,000 per month for pension, Rs 2,500 for daily allowance, and Rs 1.24 lakh per month salary. Furthermore, the monthly additional pension for service beyond five years has been raised from Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,500.

However, Indian MPs continue to earn less than their counterparts in many other nations, despite the hike.
