Nimisha Priya Case: The Supreme Court on Monday is set to hear the petition requesting the centre to use diplomatic means to save Nimisha Priya, the Indian nurse scheduled to be executed in Yemen for alleged murder. A bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta may hear the case two days before her scheduled execution on July 16. The petitioners have urged exploring the option of paying 'blood money' to the victims' family members to save the nurse from execution. Priya is found guilty of killing her Yemeni business partner Talal Abdo Mahdi in 2017, leading to the execution.

Advocate Subhash Chandran KR had submitted the plea arguing that paying the 'bloody money' is allowed under the Sharia Law in Yemen. The petition further stated that paying the victim's family is likely to significantly influence the case, which might lead to forgiveness. Nimisha Priya's family has reportedly offered Rs 8.6 crore to the victim's family to forgive the Indian nurse. Earlier on July 10, the petitioners stated that the apex court must hear the case on an immediate basis, as the execution date has already been announced.

Nimisha’s mother has issued a final appeal to the authorities and public of Yemen. “I am deeply grateful to the Indian and Kerala governments, as well as the committee formed to save her, for all the support provided so far. But this is my final plea -- please help us save her life. Time is running out,” she stated in her request.
