An Indian passenger reportedly engaged in unruly behaviour by urinating on a co-passenger during an Air India flight bound for Bangkok on Wednesday, PTI reported. The airline confirmed the incident in a statement, stating that the crew immediately assisted the victim in filing a complaint with the relevant authorities in Bangkok. 

Air India further assured that it would adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) outlined by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) to address the matter appropriately.

“Air India confirms that an incident of unruly passenger behaviour was reported to the cabin crew... The crew followed all laid down procedures, and the matter has been reported to the authorities,” ANI reported quoting an Air India spokesperson. 

Reacting over the incident, Civil Aviation Minister K Rammohan Naidu said the ministry will take cognisance of the incident and speak to the airline in this regard. 

"If there is any wrongdoing, we will take necessary action," he said.

The incident came days after a similar episode unfolded onboard United Airlines. 

Jerome Gutierrez was travelling in business class on a United Airlines flight from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Manila, Philippines, when a fellow passenger stood up and began urinating on him. The incident allegedly took place about four hours into the flight.

Reportedly, the airlines banned the man, but the victim’s stepdaughter lashed out at the company, accusing them of handling the situation poorly.
