IndiGo Advisory: Amid rising political unrest in Iran, IndiGo on Tuesday announced the cancellation of flights to and from Tbilisi, Almaty, Baku, and Tashkent until February 28. In its statement, the airline stated that the flights have been cancelled to ensure the safety of the passengers and in view of the “developing situation around Iran”. It further stated that the situation will be continuously monitored, adding that the passengers will be informed about the changes in the upcoming weeks.

The airline stated that the flights were cancelled to ensure safety for the passengers and the crew members, further urging the flyers to stay updated. "Travel Advisory In view of the developing situation around Iran, we have made additional adjustments to our flight schedule to ensure a safe and seamless experience for our customers and crew," IndiGo informed in its statement.

"As part of these measures, IndiGo flights to and from Tbilisi, Almaty, Baku, and Tashkent have been cancelled until 28 February 2026. As the situation continues to evolve, our plans remain under regular review. Any further updates or changes will be shared through our communication channels. We appreciate your patience, understanding, and continued trust," the airline asserted.

The decision was taken due to the latest protests in Iran against the authorities. While the flights to these destinations had been cancelled until February 11, the airline has decided to extend it as the situation has not improved.

IndiGo uses the airspace of Iran to operate flights to these cities, which usually take six to seven hours and are operated using A320neo aircraft. The aircraft do not have the fuel capacity and the range to take alternative routes to reach these destinations.

The tension between Iran and the US has escalated in the past few days, with chances of a possible military conflict in the region.
