IndiGo Flight Cancellations: IndiGo, India’s largest airline, continues to face significant operational challenges, prompting questions about its flight schedule. Despite cancelling hundreds of flights each day, the airline is still selling tickets, leaving passengers wondering how it is managing bookings amid such widespread cancellations.

How Is IndiGo Still Selling Tickets?

IndiGo’s operations remain partly functional despite a wave of cancellations that had disrupted much of its network. The airline has not grounded its entire fleet, meaning many of its more than 2,200 daily domestic and international flights are still flying.

The chaos has been concentrated at certain airports and on specific days. IndiGo CEO Peter Elbers said that Friday was ‘the most severely impacted day ever’, with over 1,000 flights cancelled, including all domestic departures from Delhi.

While some routes are in crisis mode, others such as such as Kolkata-Guwahati, Chennai-Coimbatore, and services connecting smaller cities, continue to operate, albeit with delays and reduced frequency, NDTV reported.

With much of its schedule still operational, IndiGo is continuing to sell tickets on flights expected to operate in the coming days, even as parts of its network struggle to recover. IndiGo CEO stated that the situation will gradually return to normal over the coming days following the massive flight cancellations this week.

“Full normalisation is expected between December 10 and 15, though IndiGo cautions that recovery will take time due to the scale of operations,” Elbers said.

What Passengers Should Do Now?

The airline has advised passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport and allow extra time for travel until operations return to normal. IndiGo further stated that the situation is expected to show some improvement from Saturday, but full stabilisation of its schedule may not occur until mid-December.
