A man was allegedly stabbed to death during a religious procession in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore district on Thursday. The incident took place when a scuffle broke out in 'prabhat pheri', a Hanuman procession, at 7.30 am in Mhow town.
The victim, identified as Shubham Raghuvansi (25), participated in the procession with his friend, Krishna Prajapati (29), where he was stabbed in the stomach multiple times after an argument with a group.
Krishna was also attacked by the culprits when he intervened to protect his friend. The victim suffered severe injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital after he fell to the ground, but he succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment. The matter is under police scrutiny.

Police have launched an investigation and are also probing if there was any previous animosity between the parties. Amidst the fog and chilly breeze, a large number of devotees participated in Ranjeet Hanuman 'Prabhat Pheri' procession.
Following the incident, some members of the Bajrang Dal group demonstrated at Mhow police station and sought an inquiry into the matter. The Hindutva outfit members questioned how the youths managed to join the procession with knives and police were unable to manage the situation.
