IRCTC New Rules From October 1: Starting October 1, 2025, booking general tickets online through the IRCTC website or app will come with new rules. The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is set to introduce revised guidelines for users who book tickets online using their Aadhaar.

This move is a part of a broader initiative aimed at preventing misuse of the ticket reservation system by unscrupulous agents and ticketing fraud.

New IRCTC Booking Rule From October 1

- According to the IRCTC revised guideline, from October 1, 2025, IRCTC will allow only Aadhaar-authenticated users to book reserved general tickets online during the first 15 minutes after booking opens.

- This rule applies to both the IRCTC website and mobile app, aiming to improve security and reduce misuse.

Booking Rules At PRS Counters Unaffected

- According to the IRCTC, the revised guidelines are only applicable to online bookings.
There will be no change in the booking process or timings of general reserved tickets at Indian Railways' computerised Passenger Reservation System (PRS) counters.

IRCTC Ticket Booking Rules: 10-Minute Restrictions For Agents

- The Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has said that the existing 10-minute restriction barring authorised agents from booking opening-day reserved tickets will remain unchanged.

Steps To Authenticate Aadhaar For Tatkal Reservations:

Starting July 1, 2025, only Aadhaar-authenticated users can book Tatkal train tickets on the IRCTC website or mobile app. To authenticate Aadhaar, follow the steps below:

- Log in to the IRCTC website or the IRCTC Rail Connect App.

- Go to “My Account.”

- Click on “Authenticate User” and follow the steps to complete the Aadhaar authentication process.
