Rashtriya Swamyamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday said that the ideological mentor of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has ‘no quarrel’ with the BJP-led government. Speaking at an event commemorating 100 years of RSS, Bhagwat said that there may be a struggle between RSS and BJP, but there is no quarrel. He added that their goals are the same, as both work in the national interest.

“We have good coordination with every government, both the Centre and states. There are systems that have internal contradictions. The system in general is the same... There is no quarrel in any way... we have good coordination with every government,” Bhagwat responded to questions on differences between RSS and BJP.

While acknowledging differences of opinion may exist, he emphasises mutual trust and collaboration. “Struggle might be there but there is no quarrel. When we talk of compromise, the struggle deepens,” he said, adding that both organisations ‘trust each other’ and are confident of eventually aligning.

“RSS and the BJP "trust each other" and know they will "converge at some point". "There may be opinions, but we discuss, a collective decision gets taken,” Bhagwat added.

He has also dismissed claims that the BJP and its government are guided by the party’s ideological mentor. While addressing the event, he somewhat took a dig at the BJP’s internal decision-making. Without naming anyone, Bhagwat said, “Had we been taking the decisions, would it have taken so long?” The comment was interpreted as a critique of the delay in appointing a successor to BJP president JP Nadda, whose official term ended nearly two years ago.
