Israel-Palestine War: As the conflict between Israel and Hamas remains tense, India on Wednesday launched "Operation Ajay" to facilitate the return of citizens from war-torn Israel. Taking to social media platform X, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said Operation Ajay was launched to bring back the Indian citizens who wish to return.

"Launching Operation Ajay to facilitate the return from Israel of our citizens who wish to return. Special charter flights and other arrangements are being put in place. Fully committed to the safety and well-being of our nationals abroad", Jaishankar wrote on X.

The Indian embassy in Tel Aviv said that it has emailed the first lot of registered Indian citizens for the special flight tomorrow. "Messages to other registered people will follow for subsequent flights", the embassy posted on X. 

India Issues 24X7 Emergency Helpline Numbers For Its Citizens Stuck In Gaza

Earlier in the day, the external ministry announced it had set up a 24-hour control room to monitor the situation in Israel and provide information and assistance. A similar statement was issued by the Indian Embassy In Israel. "The Embassy has been working constantly to help our fellow citizens in Israel through a 24-hour helpline. Please remain calm & vigilant & follow the security advisories," it reads.

On Wednesday, the conflict between Israel and Palestine entered into fifth day. Over 3,000 people have been killed on both the sides since Hamas group launched the attack on Israel on October 7.
