Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Sunday reiterated that India will deliver a strong response to those who target the nation, in remarks made against the backdrop of the recent terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam.

Speaking at the Sanskriti Jagran Mahotsav in Delhi, Singh praised both the soldiers and sages of the nation, highlighting their crucial roles in safeguarding India ‘physically’ and ‘spiritually’.

"As a nation, our brave soldiers have always protected the physical form of India, while on the other hand, our sages and wise men have protected the spiritual form of India. While on one hand, our soldiers fight on the 'Rannbhoomi' (battlefield), on the other hand, our saints fight on the 'Jeevanbhoomi'. As a defence minister, it is my responsibility to ensure the security of the country's borders along with my soldiers. It is my responsibility to give a befitting reply to those who dare to attack our country. You all know Prime Minister Narendra Modi's work ethic and perseverance," he said.

As many as 26 people, mostly tourists, were killed after a group of terrorists opened fire at them in Pahalgam’s Baisaran Valley. The Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy outfit of Lashkar-e-Taiba, claimed responsibility for the attack.

India responded strongly to the incident and took a series of measures against Pakistan, which is believed to have orchestrated the attack on civilians. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been holding high-level consultations with key stakeholders and the possibility of military action against Pakistan is growing rapidly.
