The Uttar Pradesh transport department is set to operate double-decker electric buses in Gautam Buddha Nagar. In the initial trial, two buses will run from Noida’s Morna Depot to Pari Chowk in Greater Noida. The service could further be expanded to Jewar depending on the requirement. The depot will soon receive the buses.
Uttar Pradesh Transport Department has decided to operate 20 such buses across the state in the first phase.
The double-decker bus service could attract a significant number of passengers, as this route is quite busy. Currently, normal buses are operating from Morna Depot to Pari Chowk and Jewar.
According to sources cited by Jagran.com, the decision to introduce double-decker buses was made in a state-level meeting held two days ago. Preparations for this have already begun by the depot management. The trial will be conducted with these two buses, and if successful, the number of double-decker buses will be increased.
Once the buses arrive, their stoppages, fares and timings will also be finalised.
An electric vehicle charging station has been installed at Morna Depot. Once the electricity connection is established, facilities for charging electric buses will also be available here. Electric buses travelling to their destinations via Aligarh, Agra, and other districts will also be able to charge here.
