J-K Cloudburst: At least seven people died and five others got injured in two separate incidents of cloudburst and landslide in Jammu and Kashmir's Kathua district, the officials informed. They further stated that the road leading to the affected village was completely destroyed due to the cloudburst. While providing details, Union Minister Jitendra Singh stated that the cloudburst has also damaged the railway track and National Highway. Apart from this, Kathua police station also got affected due to the flash floods. In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Singh ensured that the situation in Kathua is being monitored.

"Spoken to SSP Kathua Sh Shobhit Saxena after receiving information about a cloud burst in the Janglote area. 4 Casualties reported. In addition, damage has occurred to Railway track, National Highway while Police Station Kathua has been affected. The civilian Administration, Military and Paramilitary have swung into action. The situation is being continuously monitored. My sincere condolences to the families of the deceased," Singh stated in his post.

Apart from this, Kathua Deputy Commissioner Rajesh Sharma stated that few houses also got damaged due to the flash floods, adding that rescue operations are underway to evacuate the trapped people.

"An incident of flash floods and a landslide took place at Jodh village in Kathua. 2-3 houses have been affected by the landslide. There are reports of six people trapped; rescue operations are underway. Some roads on the way have also been washed out due to heavy rains," Sharma was quoted as saying by ANI.
