A webinar titled 'Digital Safety for Senior Citizens: Sach Ke Sathi' was organised on Sunday under Google’s prestigious 'DigiKawach' initiative, in collaboration with Jagran New Media and Vishvas News. The objective was to help senior citizens in Delhi protect themselves from online fraud and scams, and to raise awareness about preventive measures.
During the session, Vishvas News trainers explained that criminals and online scammers increasingly target senior citizens, with such cases on the rise. Participants were informed about different methods used in online scams and were educated on how to prevent them. Experts cautioned that cybercriminals often send phishing links with tempting messages, especially during festive seasons. The safest way to stay protected is to avoid clicking on any such links.
Senior citizens were also taught about the importance of using Google Password Manager and how it can help create strong passwords. Google Passkey was introduced as a simple and secure alternative to traditional passwords—allowing users to log in using a fingerprint, face scan, or screen lock for added security.
Vishvas News Deputy Editors Pallavi Mishra and Devika Mehta spoke about the rapid increase in cybercrime and fraud and explained the goals of Google’s 'DigiKawach' program.
Pallavi Mishra shared practical digital safety tips and methods to stay secure online. Devika Mehta highlighted the rise of AI-assisted online fraud, noting that many viral videos featuring celebrities asking people to invest are actually AI-generated deepfakes created to deceive viewers.
The online training program was supported by the Well Being Foundation. Its founder, Farah Naz, described the initiative as “a need of the hour,” adding that the webinar would greatly help senior citizens protect themselves from cyber threats.
