Jagran Sahitya Srijan Samman: Popular lyricist and writer Prasoon Joshi described Dainik Jagran's Sahitya Srijan Samman as an important step in promoting literature. He said that in today's time, when human nature lacks concentration and focus, there is a growing need for such efforts that encourage people to sit down, listen, and read literature with attention and patience.
Calling languages the backbone of culture, he said that if we do not honour the original languages in which ideas are born and the writers who express them, there is a danger that original thought itself may vanish. Cautioning the audience, he added, "Literature is the well, and the reader is the thirsty one."
Readers Should Reach Out to Literature: Prasoon Joshi
According to Prasoon Joshi, it is always the reader who should reach out to literature, not the other way around. "Literature should not have to chase readers," he said.
Expressing concern over the growing trend of iconoclasm and breaking traditions in creative expression, he noted, "Merely breaking idols, rejecting traditions, or dismantling what exists is not creation. True creation requires discipline and patience, values that are intrinsic to our culture." He further emphasised that in India’s linguistic and cultural ethos, "literature is not a commodity to be sold."
Tribute to Former Jagran Editor-In-Chief Narendra Mohan Gupta
Prabhat Kumar, Director of Prabhat Prakashan, praised Dainik Jagran's former Editor-in-Chief Narendra Mohan Gupta, describing him as "a towering personality who, despite his stature as a great writer, journalist, and editor, remained remarkably humble."
"In every meeting, I never felt I was sitting before such a towering figure. He was a master of the pen, a pioneer of nationalist thought, and a staunch supporter of cultural nationalism. His fearless editorials echoed the spirit of Sanatan Dharma and embodied the essence of courageous journalism," Prabhat Kumar said.
Referring to his writings, Kumar added, "Whether it was the Ram Janmabhoomi movement or any issue of national significance, his sharp and insightful writing presented a clear Indian perspective, helping readers understand the right context and viewpoint. His first book on Indian culture stands as a testimony to his deep faith and commitment to Indian traditions. He was a true magician of words, blessed by Goddess Saraswati herself."
Narendra Mohan Gupta Bridged Journalism and Literature: Vishnu Prakash Tripathi
Dainik Jagran's Executive Editor Vishnu Prakash Tripathi, in his address, said that Narendra Mohan Gupta blurred the boundaries between journalism and literature and unified the two, as both share the common purpose of serving society, the nation, culture, and thought. "In Narendra Mohan Ji's vision, the present and the future were always intertwined, that is what made his personality so extraordinary," he said.
Tripathi also mentioned that Narendra Mohan Gupta inherited a deep passion for the Hindi language, which shaped his editorial journey. On the occasion, he appreciated the contributions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in promoting Hindi and fostering respect for the language across the country.
