Jaisalmer Bus Fire: At least 19 people, of total 57 passengers, have lost their lives in a fatal bus fire which occurred on Jailsalmer-Jodhpur Highway, reported Jagran.com. The incident reportedly resulted in 16 people, including three children, being seriously injured.

As per the information provided by officials, a private bus, which caught fire, was en route to Jodhpur from Jaisalmer. The incident occurred near Thaiyat village in the afternoon today, Tuesday.
The rescue operation is currently underway, and casualties have been reported as a result of the severe incident. Those, Who suffered injuries during the accident have been shifted to the hospital, said Additional SP of Jaisalmer, Kailash Dhan. As per a Jagran.com report, passengers with serious injuries have been referred to Jodhpur.
"The moving bus burst into flames. Casualties have been reported. The injured have been rushed to the hospital. Rescue operation continues," the official was quoted as saying by ANI.
As per its daily schedule, the bus had departed from Jaisalmer for Jodhpur at 3 pm, but when it reached near Thaiyat village, the smoke began rising from the rear part of the bus, and the whole vehicle was engulfed in fire within a moment.
Upon learning the incident, local residents and passersby quickly rushed to the scene to assist with rescue efforts. The fire department and police were promptly notified, with locals alerting them to the emergency. Those injured in the blaze are receiving treatment at Jawahir Hospital in Jaisalmer.
While the authorities are yet to ascertain the reason behind the fire, it is anticipated that a short circuit would have triggered the fatal incident.

Chief Minister To Visit Accident Site
Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has taken feedback on the incident and is in touch with the district administration. The CM's office is actively monitoring the situation, and the Chief Minister has instructed officials to provide immediate relief.
"The incident of a bus catching fire in Jaisalmer is extremely heart-wrenching. I express deep condolences to those affected by this tragic accident. Directions have been given to concerned officials for the proper treatment of the injured and to extend every possible help to the victims," the Chief Minister posted on X.
Authorities have alerted hospitals to provide better treatment to the injured and directed the administration to expedite relief efforts. The Chief Minister is likely to visit the accident site.
