The Uttar Pradesh government, under the direction of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has launched extensive preparations to manage the festive travel rush for Diwali, Bhaiya Dooj, and Chhath Puja. An incentive period has been declared from October 18 to October 30, 2025, to ensure maximum bus availability and a smooth, safe journey for all passengers.

Additional Services And Key Routes

To handle the surge of passengers, Minister of State for Transport, Dayashankar Singh, announced that additional buses will operate on major routes.

Focus on Purvanchal: Extra services will run from Delhi to key cities in eastern Uttar Pradesh, including Lucknow, Gorakhpur, Varanasi, Ayodhya, and Kanpur. The government has prioritised ensuring a hassle-free journey for the thousands of people from Purvanchal traveling home for the Chhath festival.

Other Major Cities: The frequency of buses will also be increased for routes covering Ghaziabad, Meerut, Moradabad, Bareilly, Saharanpur, Agra, Aligarh and Etawah.

Safety And Convenience Measures

The Transport Minister has issued strict directives to ensure passenger safety and comfort during the festive period.

100 per cent Fleet Operation: All corporation buses are required to be on the road. Unfit buses are strictly prohibited from operation.

Maintenance And Spares: Officials have been ordered to ensure the ready availability of bus assembly parts, spares, and other necessary equipment to prevent breakdowns.

Bus Station Amenities: Arrangements for cleanliness, drinking water, proper seating, digital timetables and help centers must be in place at all bus stations.

Mandatory Breathalyser Tests: To ensure safe travel, all drivers and conductors must undergo a breathalyser test before their duty. Enforcement teams will conduct continuous inspections throughout the incentive period.

Special Incentives For Employees

The government has also announced a financial incentive scheme to motivate transport corporation employees during this high-demand period.

For Drivers And Conductors:

- Those who work for 12 days (averaging 300 km daily) will receive an incentive of Rs 4,800 (Rs 400 per day).

- Employees working for 13 consecutive days and meeting the standard will receive Rs 5,850 (Rs 450 per day).

- Contractual staff will get an additional Rs 0.55 per km for any distance covered beyond the set standard.

For Workshop Employees:

- A lump-sum incentive of Rs 2,500 for 13 consecutive days of duty.

- An incentive of Rs 2,100 for 12 days of duty.

For Management Staff:

For excellent performance, Regional Managers will receive Rs 10,000, Service Managers Rs 5,000 and Assistant Regional Managers will get additional incentives based on the number of buses operated.
