Hyderabad News: A 27-year-old woman in Hyderabad allegedly killed her twin children before dying by suicide in the early hours of Tuesday, police said. The incident occurred around 3.30 AM at the family’s residence in the Balanagar area.

The woman, identified as Challari Sailakshmi, is suspected to have smothered her two-year-old twins, Chetan Karthikeya and Lasyata Valli, using a pillow before jumping from the fourth floor of her apartment building. CCTV footage captured her fall around 3.37 AM. Neighbours who witnessed the incident alerted the police.

According to officials, Sailakshmi’s husband, Anil Kumar, was at work at the time. Preliminary investigation revealed that the couple often argued over their son Chetan’s speech impairment. Police said the stress from these disputes may have driven Sailakshmi to take the extreme step.

Her parents have lodged a complaint accusing Anil Kumar of harassment and police have taken him into custody. The bodies of Sailakshmi and her children were shifted to a hospital for post-mortem examination.

Balanagar Police Inspector T. Narsimha Raju said, “The couple had frequent quarrels related to their son’s speech therapy. We suspect that family stress led to this tragic incident.”

In separate news, a 47-year-old man, identified as Bajjuri Ramchander from Dwarakamainagar in Munaganur, has been arrested by Vanasthalipuram police for allegedly duping his colleagues of Rs 30 lakh through fake chit schemes and credit card fraud. Police said Ramchander, who worked at a popular shopping mall, convinced around 20 co-workers to invest in his chit fund and even collected their credit cards under the pretext of managing payments. Instead, he allegedly used the money and cards for personal expenses. After collecting the funds, he resigned from his job, vacated his residence, and went missing. Based on a complaint by one of the victims, Bukki Balakrishna, police tracked him down and arrested him. The accused was produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody.
