Hyderabad News: Police in Hyderabad have arrested a supervisor of a state-run children’s home in Saidabad for allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old boy multiple times since May this year.
Officials said the incident came to light when the child revealed the abuse to his mother after returning home for the Dussehra holidays. Following her complaint, police registered a case on October 11 under relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
According to investigators, the accused had been abusing the minor over several months. Police are also examining claims that he might have targeted other inmates at the facility.
The accused is currently in custody and authorities are continuing the investigation to gather more evidence and ensure the safety of other children residing in the home.
In separate news, a man was allegedly beaten to death by his wife in Hyderabad’s Keshampet area after a heated argument over his drinking habits, police said on Sunday. The victim, identified as 35-year-old Koppu Kumar, was attacked with a brick by his wife, K Madhavi, during a confrontation at their home.
Investigations revealed that the couple often quarrelled as Kumar frequently returned home drunk. On Saturday night, when he came home intoxicated again, the argument turned violent. In anger, Madhavi picked up a brick and hit him several times on the head while their 12-year-old son reportedly pleaded with her to stop.
As per police sources cited by NDTV, Madhavi later dragged her husband’s body outside, dumped it in a sump near the house, and cleaned the bloodstains before fleeing.
Police have registered a case of murder and launched a search for Madhavi. Kumar, who worked as a porter, died on the spot.
