A doctored video showing External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar ‘apologising’ has been widely circulating on social media, drawing a strong response from India, which condemned the footage as AI-generated and part of a false propaganda campaign. This video is the example in a growing surge of misinformation circulating online through various social media accounts amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan.
FIB fact check has posted this video and announced that this is an AI generated video which has been posted by a verified account named ‘Abubakar Qussam’ on social media platform X.
FIB on X wrote, “A doctored video showing EAM DrSJShankar apologizing is circulating online. The video is AI-generated and part of false propaganda. Stay alert. Don't fall for misinformation.”

In another instance of misinformation, an old video of an Indian Air Force (IAF) crash is being falsely circulated in the context of current India-Pakistan tensions. The footage is actually from a routine training sortie involving a Jaguar aircraft in Ambala in March 2025 and is unrelated to the ongoing situation.

The Union government has also refuted claims that India launched a drone attack on the Nankana Sahib gurdwara in Pakistan. The Fact Check Unit of the Press Information Bureau (PIB) clarified that such misinformation is being spread with the intent to incite communal discord within India.
