Jalgaon Train Accident: A tragic incident occurred near Pardhade railway station in Pachura taluka in Maharashtra’s Jalgaon district, at around 4:50 pm in which 12 passengers lost their lives and at least 11 others sustained injuries after reportedly jumping off the Pushpak Express due to rumours of a fire on board. 

In the chaos, the passengers were struck by the Karnataka Express, which was travelling on an adjacent track. Out of the 12 deceased, nine were Indian nationals, while three were from Nepal. The incident is being investigated by authorities, including Jalgaon District Collector Ayush Prasad.

- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the district administration is coordinating with the railway authorities to ensure immediate medical treatment for the injured. 

- In a video message from Davos, Switzerland, he also declared Rs 5 lakh of relief for the families of the deceased. Additionally, he assured that the state government would cover the medical expenses of those injured.

- PM Modi also expressed grief over the incident. Taking to X, formerly Twitter, the Prime Minister’s Office wrote, “I am Anguished by the tragic accident on the railway tracks in Jalgaon, Maharashtra. I extend my heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and pray for the speedy recovery of all the injured. Authorities are providing all possible assistance to those affected.”

- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also expressed his grief over the Pushpak train accident and directed that proper medical care be provided to the injured.

- The Congress blamed the Modi government over the incident and said that train accidents have increased since the BJP government came to power.

- “If we notice, rail accidents in the country have increased since the Modi government has come. The Kavach system has also failed to work... Even though prices of rail tickets have increased, the cost of the lives of people has decreased. Till when will this go on? This is very unfortunate. If the Modi government keeps true to their words, then he should immediately resign," Congress leader Nana Patole was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

- Meanwhile, Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw expressed grief over the tragedy and directed the railways to ensure proper medical treatment to those who sustained injuries. 

- Following the tragic incident in Jalgaon, both West Central Railway and Central Railway have issued helpline numbers for those in need of assistance.

- The Commissioner of Railway Safety for the Central Circle will investigate the incident in which 12 passengers were killed after being hit by the Karnataka Express in Maharashtra's Jalgaon district.

- Manoj Arora, the CRS for the Central Circle, informed news agency PTI that he plans to visit the accident site, located between Pardhade and Maheji railway stations near Pachora, over 400 km from Mumbai, on Thursday morning to probe the circumstances surrounding the tragedy
