Jammu And Kashmir: A major tragedy was averted on Wednesday due to the alertness of security forces in Jammu and Kashmir. A suspicious object was found on the road side on the Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway. According to reports, it was an IED, planted as part of a major terrorist plot.

While patrolling this morning, security forces spotted a suspicious package along the highway, jagran.com reported. Anticipating a possible threat, the troops immediately took action and cordoned off the entire area. Traffic was completely halted on both sides of the highway for security reasons, resulting in a long queue of vehicles.

Bomb Squad On Spot

Upon receiving information about the incident, the bomb squad was called to the scene. Following security protocols, the suspicious object was examined and the process of safely defusing it was initiated. Meanwhile, security personnel maintained strict security measures.

Search Operations Intensified

Following the incident, a high alert has been issued in the entire area. Security forces have intensified search operations in nearby villages and residential areas. Joint teams of the army and police are thoroughly scanning the area with the help of drones and sniffer dogs to ensure that no other explosives have been hidden.
