Jammu and Kashmir Cloudburst: Jammu and Kashmir experienced heavy rainfall on Saturday due to intensified monsoon activity, leading to flood-like conditions in various regions. Heavy cloudbursts in multiple areas of North and South Kashmir raised concerns among residents. Although no casualties were reported, many homes were inundated with water and debris from nearby rivers and streams. Authorities promptly evacuated residents to safer locations to ensure their safety.
Srinagar-Jammu Highway and Other Roads Disrupted
The continuous rain also led to the closure of roads connecting remote areas within the state. The Srinagar-Jammu highway was particularly affected, with disruptions caused by landslides halting vehicle movement in the Ramban area. The highway faced a two-hour blockage near Dalwas due to mud and debris from the mountains. However, traffic was restored around noon after officials cleared the affected roadway.

In light of the adverse weather conditions, the public has been urged to refrain from unnecessary travel. The weather department had previously warned of potential cloudbursts in several areas. The administration initiated a rescue operation, evacuating individuals trapped in their homes to safety. Seven families from the Achgoza area were relocated to a local school for shelter.
Meanwhile, a cloudburst was also reported in the Ohngam area of Bandipora, North Kashmir. Rainfall commenced early Saturday and persisted intermittently throughout the day, with heavy downpours recorded in Srinagar and the Jammu division.
