A shocking incident has surfaced in Jharkhand's Khunti district, where a 25-year-old man allegedly strangled his live-in partner to death and chopped her body into 40 to 50 pieces in a forested area. The accused, identified as Naresh Bhengra, was arrested following the recovery of human remains.

The crime came to light nearly two weeks after the murder when, on November 24, a stray dog was found carrying human body parts on them near Jordag village under Jariagarh police station.

Naresh Bhengra, who works as a butcher in Tamil Naidu, had been in a live-in relationship with the deceased, a 24-year-old woman from the same district. The couple had lived together in Tamil Nadu for two years. However, the accused secretly returned to Jharkhand, married another woman, and later rejoined his live-in partner in Tamil Nadu without informing her of his marriage.

“The brutal incident occurred on November 8 when they reached Khunti, as the accused, who had married another woman, did not wish to take her home. Instead, he took her to a forest near his house at Jordag village in Jariagarh police station and chopped the body into pieces. The man has been arrested," explained Khunti Superintendent of Police Aman Kumar, reported PTI.

Inspector Ashok Singh, who investigated the case, stated that Naresh’s expertise as a butcher enabled him to slice the body efficiently into 40–50 pieces. The woman, unaware of Naresh's marriage, had reportedly pressured him to return to Khunti. She had informed her mother that she would be living with her partner.

Additionally, he admitted to chopping the body parts of the woman into 40 to 50 pieces before leaving those in the forest for wild animals to feast on. The couple had boarded a train to Jharkhand on November 24.

“Under a plan, the accused man took her to Khunti district in an autorickshaw, strangulated her, and then cut her body into pieces. He admitted to leaving the remains for wild animals and returned home to live with his wife," said Inspector Singh.

Police found the victim's belongings, including her Aadhaar card, in a bag near the body parts. The victim's mother identified the items and suspected Naresh's involvement. Upon being apprehended, Naresh confessed to the crime.

“The mother suspected the man behind the crime, who, after being nabbed by the police, admitted to chopping the woman into pieces," the official added.
