Hemant Soren, the chief minister of Jharkhand, attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday, referring to it as a "showroom of lies and hatred." The executive president of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha said in an X post that the BJP had spent lakhs of rupees spreading "hatred, social animosity, and lies" against him.

"I am not wrong when I say that the BJP is a showroom of lies and hatred. They are spending crores of rupees to spread hatred, violence, social animosity and lies against me," Soren wrote on X.

Later, while addressing a rally in the state capital Ranchi, the chief minister said that he was put in jail and the saffron party aimed to topple the government and finish the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM).

He added, "But they don't know that the JMM is the Great Wall of China of this state. No one can cross it, whoever climbs this wall will be finished."

BJP's Response To Soren's Remarks

In response to Soren's accusations, the Jharkhand BJP said that aware of his certain defeat, he was only using the victim card to construct a line of justifications.

"If he has any grievance, he should go to the Election Commission. Instead of that, he is taking to social media only to play the victim card. He wants to build a narrative of a series of excuses seeing impending defeat in the upcoming election," Jharkhand BJP spokesperson Pratul Shahdeo said.

On January 31, Soren was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate in connection with a land fraud and money laundering investigation. The high court granted him bail, which resulted in his release from custody.

Votes for the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly will be tallied on November 23 after elections are held on November 13 and 20.
