Rajasthan: Unusual twins with a rare disease that gives their skin a plastic-like texture and appearance were born in a hospital in the town of Nokha in Bikaner. Because of the seriousness of their condition, the twins were later sent to PBM Hospital in Bikaner.
Currently, the twins are said to be in stable health. They have reportedly been identified as having an uncommon illness.
Doctor Vishesh Chaudhary told Local18 that because the ailment is so uncommon, this is likely the first instance in the nation. According to him, out of three to five lakh children, one survives.
About two months ago, a mother gave birth to twins. Their respective weights were 1.5 kg for the boy and 1.53 kg for the girl. The two babies were sent to a public hospital.
The bodies of children who suffer from this illness are covered in a layer of tough skin. Unfortunately, they usually only live for a few years. On the other hand, some kids could survive till puberty in certain situations.

What Is This Rare Medical Condition?
According to the doctor, both babies are doing well right now. The twins have an uncommon genetic condition called Harlequin-type ichthyosis, which causes skin tearing in several places.
Newborns with this syndrome are born without skin and with undeveloped eyes. According to the doctor, infants with this illness frequently only live for a week and have a death rate of up to 50 percent.
