Jharkhand News: A woman died after her husband allegedly set her on fire in Jharkhand's Alagdiha village. The deceased's father accused his son-in-law, Sonu Turi, of murdering his daughter over dowry. The incident took place on the night of the Karam festival after the couple had a fight, following which Sonu allegedly set Madhu ablaze in a fit of rage.
The deceased, Madhu, married Sonu three years back. According to the deceased's father, Lalmai Turi, he gave dowry on her daughter's marriage itself according to proper Hindu rituals. Despite this, after a few days of marriage, Sonu started harassing his wife demanding more dowry. Lalmani added that he often compromised with Sachin and his family to maintain peace between the couple.
Madhu was rushed to Bokaro Sadar Hospital, where she died while undergoing treatment on Tuesday evening. Upon the complaint of Lalmani, police registered a case against the accused and his family and Sonu was apprehended.

In another incident, a 24-year-old woman died after her in-laws allegedly poisoned her over dowry in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar on Thursday. The deceased, Anjali, was married to Shubham Kumar three years ago.
According to Anjali's family, Shubham and his family harassed the deceased over dowry. An FIR was registered against the accused and his family who went absconding. Anjali's body was sent for post-mortem and further investigation in the case is on.
