Deoghar | Jagran News Desk: A total of 46 people, who were trapped in the ropeway on the Trikut Hills close to the Baba Baidyanath Temple in Deodhar district of Jharkhand, were saved in a daring rescue operation led by the Indian Air Force. However, the accident left three people dead, including two who fell to their death during a helicopter rescue attempt, and several others were injured. The rescue operations, which lasted for nearly two days, were called off at around 12.55 pm on Tuesday. Combined teams of IAF, Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and the district administration were involved in the dangerous rescue operations.

Meanwhile, a high-level investigation into the ropeway accident was ordered by Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren.

"I express my deepest condolences on the incident on Trikut mountain and the deaths in it. There will be a high-level inquiry into the matter," Soren said in a tweet.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also monitored the situation in Jharkhand's Deoghar and discussed the rescue operations with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday took suo motu cognizance and ordered inquiry in the matter. "The court will hear the matter on April 26. Before that, the state has to file a detailed inquiry report through an affidavit," ANI reported.

The incident took place on Sunday afternoon after two cable cars collided with each other due to a technical glitch on the ropeway at Trikut Hills close to Baba Baidyanath Temple.

Jharkhand Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) President and Rajya Sabha MP Deepak Prakash on Tuesday said that the 'negligence' of the state government is responsible for the cable-car mishap near the Trikut Hills close to the Baba Baidyanath Temple in Deodhar district where two persons were killed, and several others were injured.

Prakash said that the Government of Jharkhand, the Art Culture Department and the administrative officers are completely "guilty" for all the people who faced the trouble in the ropeway collision.

"I demand that FIR should be registered against the guilty people and the family members of those who died in this accident should get government jobs and financial help," the Jharkhand BJP chief said.

The area which boasts of the famous Trikutachal Mahadeva Temple and the hermitage of Sage Dayananda, Trikut Hills has several peaks, with the highest Peak at a height of 2,470 feet from the sea level and around about 1500 feet from the ground. The Trikut ropeway, according to the Jharkhand tourism department, is India's highest vertical ropeway. It is around 766-metre long.
