Jharkhand Rains: Several Parts of Jharkhand have been experiencing light to moderate rainfall since Tuesday morning, amid an alert of heavy rainfall for four districts , an IMD official said.
The IMD issued a yellow alert for East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Simdega and Seraikela-Kharswan till 8.30 am of Wednesday.
The same alert extends to seven districts East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Simdega, Seraikela-Kharswan, Khunti, Ranchi, and Gumla from 8:30 AM on September 24 to 8:30 AM on September 25. Six districts are under a similar alert from 8:30 AM on September 25 to 8:30 AM on September 26, according to an IMD official.
Abhishek Anand, Deputy Director at Ranchi Meteorological Centre, said Jharkhand can expect light to moderate rain with patches of heavy downpours in southern and central areas over the next three days. “The rainy weather is due to a low-pressure system in the Bay of Bengal. We’re expecting widespread rain across Jharkhand on September 25,” Anand explained.
He also mentioned that another low-pressure system might form around September 25, but it’s not expected to significantly affect Jharkhand.
Ranchi has been getting light to moderate rain since Tuesday morning, with heavier rain likely on Wednesday. The state has seen 18 per cent more rainfall than usual between June 1 and September 22. Jharkhand received 1,143 mm of rain compared to the typical 970 mm during this period.
East Singhbhum saw the highest surplus at 53 per cent , followed by Seraikela-Kharswan at 48 per cent and Ranchi at 46 per cent . However, Pakur district faced a 28 per cent rainfall shortage up to September 22, the official noted.
