Jharkhand Weather: All schools across Ranchi district will remain closed on Thursday, June 19, as a precautionary step following forecasts of heavy rainfall in Jharkhand, officials confirmed. The directive has been issued by the district administration to ensure student safety amid worsening weather conditions.
According to the official order released on Wednesday, Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri directed that schools from Kindergarten to Class 12 across all categories in the district will remain shut on June 19.
“In view of the possibility of heavy rainfall and for the safety of students, Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri has issued an order to keep all categories… of schools in the district, from class KG to Class 12, closed on June 19," the notification stated.

The order also warned that any school found violating the closure directive will be held responsible under applicable provisions of the Disaster Management Act, 2005, as mentioned in the notification.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'red alert' indicating the likelihood of heavy to extremely heavy rainfall for multiple districts, including Ranchi, on Wednesday and Thursday. The alert for Wednesday covers Bokaro, Dhanbad, Ramgarh, Ranchi, Khunti, Saraikela-Kharswan, and both East and West Singhbhum, while Thursday's alert includes Ranchi, Khunti, Lohardaga, Gumla, and Simdega.
An IMD official added that the southwest monsoon has now fully advanced across Jharkhand, bringing widespread rainfall expected to last until June 20.
