Jharkhand Weather Update: The low pressure formed in the Bay of Bengal has changed the weather in Dhanbad. On Sunday, there were intermittent light showers, while it rained heavily at night. The temperature also dropped as a result of increased rain activity. Cloudy conditions are likely to prevail over the next couple of days. Heavy rain is expected in most parts of the state including Dhanbad till July 3. The Meteorological Department has issued a yellow alert regarding rain. There is a possibility of heavy rain in Bokaro, Giridih and other districts adjoining Dhanbad.
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that under the influence of the upper air cyclonic circulation over southwest Bangladesh and Gangetic West Bengal, a low pressure area has formed over Northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining West Bengal and Bangladesh coasts. The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to 7.6 km above mean sea level. It is likely to move slowly west-northwestwards across North Odisha, Gangetic West Bengal and Jharkhand.
On the other hand, a trough line is passing from Firozpur in Punjab to the low pressure area formed in the Bay of Bengal. Both systems may cause heavy rains for the next several days.
Monsoon Update
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has stated that several states are likely to receive light to heavy rain in the upcoming few days. According to the weather department, the monsoon has arrived in the entire country nine days before the normal date of July 8. It emphasised that while the rain has provided relief from scorching heat by reducing the maximum temperature, it has led to other issues such as landslides and flood-like situations.
The IMD stated that multiple northern states are expected to receive rain along with thunderstorms and gusty winds with speeds of 60-70 kmph. The residents are also advised to follow the guidelines and limit their outings to avoid any inconveniences.
