Jharkhand Weather Update: Heavy rain lashed Jamshedpur, Ghatshila, Baharagora, Gudabandha, Dhalbhumgarh, Chaibasa, and Chandil over the last 24 hours. As a result, a flood-like situation has developed in the entire Kolhan division including East Singhbhum.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the highest rainfall was recorded in Ghatshila at 83.6 mm and around Jamshedpur at 82.6 mm. Overall, Kolhan received 854.5 mm of rain. Rain activity was reported in areas like Kadma, Sonari, Baghbera, Sakchi, Bistupur of Jamshedpur.

The water level of the Swarnarekha and Kharkai rivers is also inching close to the danger mark. Water has started entering the low-lying areas, increasing the risk of floods.

The district administration has issued a precautionary alert. A yellow warning has been issued in the entire Kolhan till July 13 and people have been asked to remain alert. Due to rain,several roads have been waterlogged leading to traffic snarls.

Jamshedpur On Heavy Rain Alert, Schools Shut

In view of the possibility of heavy rain in East Singhbhum in the next 24 hours, the district administration has directed to keep all the schools of the district closed on Thursday.
