Jharkhand Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for dense fog across several parts of Jharkhand, warning of poor visibility and possible travel disruptions over the next two days. The alert remains in force till 8:30 AM on January 4, with similar conditions likely again on January 5.

Jharkhand Weather: Districts Likely To Be Affected

According to the IMD, dense fog is expected in at least 15 districts, including Garhwa, Palamu, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla, Chatra, Hazaribag, Koderma, Giridih, Deoghar, Dumka, Godda, Sahibganj and Pakur. The fog may also extend to Ranchi. Visibility is likely to drop to 50–200 metres, raising concerns for road travel and early-morning commuters.

Jharkhand Weather: Cold Conditions Continue

Jharkhand experienced sharp cold conditions on Saturday morning. Gumla recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 6.6 degrees Celsius. Daltonganj and Pakur followed at 8.3 degrees Celsius, while Khunti saw 9.4 degrees Celsius. Ranchi recorded a minimum of 12.3 degrees Celsius, slightly higher but still cold for the season.

Jharkhand Weather: Temperature Trend Ahead

The India TV report cited Officials at the Ranchi Meteorological Centre as stating that there will be no major change in minimum temperatures over the next 24 hours. However, due to an approaching western disturbance, temperatures may fall by up to 3 degrees Celsius between January 4 and January 6, further strengthening the cold wave. Dense fog conditions are likely to return on Monday morning.

Snowfall In Uttarakhand 

Meanwhile, snowfall has begun on high-altitude peaks of Uttarakhand, including Kedarnath, Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib, after a long dry spell. Fresh snowfall has increased cold winds in lower regions and brought relief to tourists and locals awaiting winter snow.

Weather officials have advised people in Jharkhand to remain cautious during early morning hours due to reduced visibility.
