J-K News: Security forces have recovered a large cache of arms after a Pakistani drone dropped a consignment near the International Border in Samba district of Jammu and Kashmir. According to officials, the consignment was sent by terror handlers based across the border.
The recovery was made after Indian armed forces detected suspicious material in the Regal forward area during routine surveillance and launched a search operation.
The recovered consignment included two pistols, three magazines, 16 rounds of ammunition and one grenade. Officials said the arms were meant for militant activities in the border region. The timely detection and recovery prevented possible misuse of the weapons.
The incident has put security agencies on high alert, ahead of Republic Day. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to trace the drone’s launch point and identify the intended recipients.
In the aftermath, security has been intensified across sensitive stretches of the IB and LoC in Jammu and Kashmir. Officials emphasised that ground patrolling and technical surveillance have been stepped up to counter drone-based smuggling.
Jammu and Kashmir has a 740-km-long Line of Control across the Baramulla, Kupwara and Bandipora districts in the Valley, as well as Poonch, Rajouri and parts of Jammu district, guarded by the Army. The 240-km-long International Border in Samba, Kathua and Jammu districts is guarded by the BSF.
