Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai staged a dramatic protest to demand justice in the Anna University sexual assault case. A video posted by ANI, shows the leader whipping himself, symbolising his anger and frustration over the state government’s handling of the issue.

During a press conference on Thursday, Annamalai made a bold statement by removing his shoes and announcing that he would whip himself six times, fast for 48 days, and refuse to wear footwear until the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government is removed from power.

He declared, "From tomorrow onwards, I will not wear any footwear until the DMK is removed from power."

This act comes amidst growing public outrage over the government’s response to the recent Anna University sexual assault case. Annamalai’s move has sparked both support and debate across political and public platforms.

The BJP leader also shared details of his plan for protests, saying, "I will hold a protest outside my house and whip myself six times. Starting tomorrow, I will fast for 48 days and appeal to the six-armed Murugan. Tomorrow, BJP members will hold protests in front of their homes. This injustice must come to an end."

The protest follows a shocking incident at Anna University in Chennai, where a second-year BE student was sexually assaulted on campus on Monday night. According to the complaint filed at the Kotturpuram All Women Police Station, the student was threatened and assaulted by an unidentified man while speaking with a friend around 8 pm.
