Bengaluru News: A police raid on a barrack at Bengaluru Central Prison on Saturday uncovered a stash of contraband items, including fifteen mobile phones, one Samsung device valued at Rs 1.3 lakh, seven electric stoves, five knives and Rs 36,000 in cash. The operation also recovered mobile phone chargers, pen drives, cigarettes, beedis and matchstick boxes.
According to a report by India Today, this search operation was prompted by a viral photo of actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, who is currently facing murder charges, socialising with gangster Wilson Garden Naga inside the prison. The image raised concerns about the preferential treatment afforded to Thoogudeepa.

In response to the controversy, several police officials were suspended and both Darshan and other inmates were relocated to different facilities. Notably, the raid focused specifically on the barracks where Naga was held, while Block 3, where Darshan was incarcerated, was not included in the search.
The operation was led by a police team headed by the Deputy Commissioner of Police and took place around 4:30 PM. During the investigation, police found two electric stoves, Rs 11,800 in cash, two knives and four mobile phones in the power control room.

Further searches revealed more items hidden in bathroom pipes, including eleven mobile phones, three mobile phone chargers, two earbuds, five electric stoves, Rs 24,300 in cash, three knives and one pen drive, all concealed in plastic wraps.
Darshan was arrested on June 11 in connection with the brutal murder of Renukaswamy, a 33-year-old fan who allegedly sent inappropriate messages to actress Pavithra Gowda, Darshan’s partner. The incident led to the arrest of 17 individuals, including Kannada actor Darshan and Pavitra Gowda.
