  1. DK Shivakumar to be sworn in as Karnataka Chief Minister.
  2. June 3 chosen for oath due to astrology and Rahul Gandhi.
  3. Two Deputy CMs, Siddaramaiah's son expected key portfolio.

Karnataka:  Following the resignation of outgoing Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday, speculation had been mounting over the schedule for the leadership transition. According to reports, Senior Congress leader DK Shivakumar will be sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Karnataka on June 3 at the Glass House of Lok Bhavan in Bengaluru.

According to a report by NDTV citing sources, a Congress delegation led by Shivakumar met Governor Thawarchand Gehlot today to finalise the details of the transition. Sources add that the event is expected to be a simple swearing-in ceremony for the new DK Shivakumar Cabinet.

Why Shivakumar Chose June 3 For Swearing-In Ceremony?

Shivakumar, who is known to be a very religious person, has chosen the date after consulting his astrologer, Bellur Dwarakanath, who identified 4:10 PM on June 3 as the shubh muhurat (auspicious time) for the ceremony, the report added.

Another factor behind choosing June 3 for the swearing-in ceremony is the availability of Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi, who is expected to attend.

Two Deputy Chief Ministers Also Likely To Take Oath

Two Deputy Chief Ministers are likely to be sworn in along with DK Shivakumar. Sources indicate that one Deputy Chief Minister is expected to be from the Dalit community and another from the minority community.

This move highlights the Congress party's strategy to strike a balance between different castes and communities, as well as different factions of the party, in the new government following Siddaramaiah's exit.

Siddaramaiah's son, Yathindra Siddaramaiah, is likely to receive a key portfolio in the new government.
