Karnataka DGP Murder: Details have emerged regarding the alleged murder of former Karnataka police chief Om Prakash, who was found dead at his home with multiple stab wounds. The 68-year-old Indian Police Service officer was discovered lying in a pool of blood, raising serious concerns about domestic violence within the household and OM Prakash's wife, Pallavi, is the prime suspect in the case.
According to an NDTV report, their son, Karthikesh, has informed authorities that Pallavi had previously threatened to kill her husband. Due to these threats, Prakash had temporarily moved in with his sister. However, just two days before the incident, their daughter, Kruthi, persuaded him to return home against his better judgment, Karthikesh stated in his complaint.
On the day of the murder, Karthikesh was at the Karnataka Golf Association in Domlur. He received a call from a neighbour in the evening, informing him that his father had been found unconscious. Rushing home, he discovered his father’s lifeless body, surrounded by a broken bottle and a knife.
Karthikesh mentioned that both his mother and sister have struggled with mental health issues, stating, “My mother, Pallavi and my sister, Kruthi, have been suffering from depression and frequently fought with my father. I strongly suspect their involvement in his murder.”
Pallavi and Kruthi have been questioned by police for over 12 hours, but no arrests have been made yet. Initial investigations reported by PTI suggests that, Pallavi threw chilli powder at Prakash, tied him up and then attacked him with a glass bottle before fatally stabbing him. After the attack, she reportedly confessed to a fellow policeman's wife about the murder, prompting the officer to inform the authorities.

Reports also indicate that a dispute over property may have escalated into a physical altercation that led to the tragic events. Investigators are also looking into whether Kruthi played any role in the incident.
Om Prakash, originally from Bihar and holding a Master’s Degree in Geology, served as the Director General of Police in Karnataka starting in March 2015. He had previously been the chief of the Fire and Emergency Services and Home Guards.
