Karnataka Horror: In a horrifying incident in Karnataka, a husband assaulted his wife on the roadside before deliberately driving an SUV over her, leaving bystanders in shock.

According to officials cited by NDTV, Akshay and his 28-year-old wife Shaila were on their way to the pilgrimage town of Ganagapura on Thursday morning in a Maruti Suzuki Ertiga. During the journey, an argument broke out between the two near Ballurga village around 11 am, following which Akshay allegedly forced her out of the moving vehicle.

Akshay was seen pulling on Shaila’s hair as she lay on the road, as per a video captured by an onlooker. He is also seen hitting her hard despite her cries and repeated requests to stop the assault.

Bystanders stepped in to stop Akshay and assisted Shaila back into the car. Moments later, Akshay allegedly drove the vehicle toward a nearby field, pushed her out once again, and ran the SUV over her. The incident was once again recorded on camera.
As per the report, Kalaburagi Superintendent of Police, Adduru Srinivasulu, noted that the couple, from Maharashtra’s Baramati, had been married for four years.

Investigations indicate that Akshay’s suspicion of his wife’s alleged extramarital relationship could have been the motive behind the brutal attack.

"We are probing this and all other angles. The husband has been taken into custody," said an official, as quoted by NDTV.

In another news, a social welfare officer reportedly died by suicide in Karnataka’s Tumakuru district last wee. The deceased, named Mallikarjun, had left behind a video alleging harassment by a senior officer. The official being accused, Krishnappa, district director of the social welfare department, denied all allegations made against him.

Mallikarjun served as an assistant director in the department and was found hanging from his office in the Appa Bande area of Pavagada. According to Mallikarjun’s video sent to colleagues before his suicide, he felt harassment from Krishnappa led him to take such drastic measures, stating also a concern for his family as they had taken care of him, and he could not continue to support them as he wished.
